Allen ISD middle schoolers took 77 of the 206 seats in this year's Texas Music Educators Association Region 25 middle school orchestras, the district says.

Auditions were held Oct. 24. About 425 string players auditioned against students from Lovejoy, Plano, Sherman and Wylie ISDs, playing prepared etudes and musical excerpts for a panel of judges, according to an Allen ISD announcement.

By campus, the district's list shows 47 musicians from Ereckson Middle School, 25 from Curtis Middle School and five from Ford Middle School.

The selected students from across the region will rehearse together with a guest clinician and then give a concert on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Allen ISD's Lowery Freshman Center. The district says the concert is free and open to the public. It did not list a start time in the announcement.

The middle school results follow the high school round earlier in October, when Allen ISD reported that 56 of its string players earned TMEA all-region seats and 30 advanced toward All-State.

The district congratulated every student who auditioned as well as those who made it.
