Penguins Take the Final Line

Rickard Rakell scored the deciding shootout goal, giving the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The Penguins were the home team, while the Stars were the visitors.

The result moved Pittsburgh to 3-2-1 with seven points. Dallas is now 2-2-1 with five points.

Third-Period Goals Even the Game

Neither team scored in the first two periods. Pittsburgh broke through in the third when Connor Dewar scored on a backhand for a 1-0 lead. Blake Lizotte assisted on Dewar’s goal.

Dallas answered in the third period to tie the game. Tyler Seguin scored on a tip-in, with assists from Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen. The 1-1 score held through the remainder of regulation, sending the game to a shootout.

Dewar finished with one goal and one point for Pittsburgh, while Lizotte had one assist. Seguin recorded one goal and one point for Dallas, and Heiskanen had one assist.

Shootout Decides the Result

Ben Kindel scored for Pittsburgh in the shootout, followed by Sidney Crosby. Seguin scored for Dallas, and Wyatt Johnston also scored for the Stars. Rakell then converted for Pittsburgh, providing the goal that settled the 2-1 game.

The period breakdown was Dallas 0, 0, 1, 0, 0 and Pittsburgh 0, 0, 1, 0, 1, followed by the shootout. The Penguins scored two goals in the game, while the Stars scored one.

The announced attendance at PPG Paints Arena was 18,192.
