Late Inning Surge
The Houston Astros secured a 6-4 victory against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The win was decided in the ninth inning when Houston mounted a four-run rally to overcome an early deficit and break a tie.
Early Deficit
The Angels established an early lead, taking control in the first three innings. In the top of the first, Los Angeles put runners on base, eventually scoring two runs. Schanuel hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Neto to score, followed by Grissom singling to right to bring Trout home.
The Angels extended their advantage in the third inning. Grissom homered to left-center field, measuring 395 feet. Shortly after, Adell doubled to right field, allowing Lowe to cross the plate. This gave Los Angeles a 4-0 lead heading into the middle innings.
Houston began to chip away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Trammell homered to center field, a shot that traveled 412 feet. The run made the score 4-1. In the eighth inning, Alvarez singled to left field, prompting Peña to score and bring the total to 4-2.
Ninth Inning Breakthrough
The game remained tied at 4-4 entering the bottom of the ninth. Houston loaded the bases through a series of plays that included errors by Angels pitcher Sam Bachman and a groundout that allowed Trammell to score on an error by second baseman Grissom.
