Key Moments Define the Outcome
Yordan Peña’s grand slam in the second inning proved to be the decisive moment in Tuesday’s matchup between the Houston Astros and the Miami Marlins. The four-run blast helped Houston overcome an early deficit to secure an 8-5 victory at Daikin Park.
The game began with the Marlins taking control. In the top of the second inning, Mack launched a 409-foot home run to right field, driving in Marsee to give Miami a 2-0 lead. The Astros responded immediately in the bottom of the frame.
After Wade Jr. scored on a Trammell single to make it 2-1, Peña connected on a 340-foot shot to right field. The home run cleared the bases, with Diaz, Dezenzo, and Spence all crossing the plate, turning a one-run game into a 6-2 Astros advantage.

Houston continued to pile on runs shortly after. Alvarez followed Peña’s heroics with a 428-foot home run to right center, extending the lead to 7-2. The Marlins managed to chip away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Hicks homered to right field, bringing Edwards home to make the score 7-4.
Alvarez provided another offensive spark in the fifth inning, hitting a 419-foot home run to right center. This solo shot pushed the margin to 8-4. The Astros’ lead held firm through the middle innings, though Miami added a run in the ninth inning when Hernández singled to left field, allowing Sanoja to score.
