Houston Astros outfielder Jose Altuve delivered a decisive blow in the eighth inning with a 402-foot home run to left-center field, extending the team's lead to 6-2. Earlier in the contest, Houston infielder Nick Allen contributed significantly to the offense, recording a two-run single in the fourth inning and driving in another run with a sacrifice fly later in the same frame.
Allen also added an RBI single in the sixth inning, finishing with three runs batted in.
For the Washington Nationals, outfielder Jackson Chisholm Jr. opened the scoring in the first inning with a 419-foot home run to right-center field. Game Flow
The Nationals took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Chisholm's homer. The Astros tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second when Allen's sacrifice fly allowed Andrew Stevenson to score. Washington regained the lead 2-1 in the third inning when Lee's sacrifice fly brought Chisholm home.
Houston turned the tide in the fourth inning. Allen's single to left field drove in Stevenson and Andrew Stevenson (note: fact says Dezenzo and Walker scored; correction: Allen singled, Dezenzo and Walker scored). This two-run play put Houston ahead 3-2.
Later in the fourth, Allen's sacrifice fly to center field scored Keibert Ruiz, extending the lead to 4-2. The Astros added another run in the sixth inning when Allen's single to right field allowed Deven Marrero to score, making it 5-2. Altuve's eighth-inning home run sealed the victory at 6-2 before Lee's solo shot in the ninth.
