Murakami Dominates Offense
Gunnar Murakami delivered a powerful offensive performance, hitting two home runs and driving in six runs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros at Rate Field on Sunday. The win improves Chicago’s record to 55-49, while Houston falls to 52-55.
Murakami’s first home run came in the first inning, a 385-foot shot to left field that also scored Wyatt Antonacci, giving the White Sox a 2-1 lead. He added another solo shot in the eighth inning, a 398-foot home run to right-center field, extending the lead to 12-3.
Game Progression
The White Sox jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the top of the first inning when Julio Peña homered 393 feet to left field, followed by Murakami’s two-run blast. The Astros tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning when Peña homered again, this time 394 feet to right-center field.
However, Chicago regained the lead later in the third when Murakami’s groundout to second allowed Luis Romo to score, making it 3-2.
The White Sox offense continued to pile on runs. In the fifth inning, Elly De La Cruz homered 426 feet to center field, tying the game at 3-3. Chicago broke the tie in the sixth inning when Yordan Alvarez homered 393 feet to left field, scoring Antonacci for a 5-3 lead.
The seventh inning saw Meidroth homered 382 feet to left-center field, followed by Murakami singling to center to score Romo and Perez, and Benintendi singling to left to score Murakami, pushing the lead to 9-3.
