Yankees Take Command
The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros 9-3 on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. The final score reflected a decisive offensive performance by the home team, which outscored the visitors 9 to 3. The Yankees improved their record to 75-57, while the Astros fell to 66-67. Attendance at the Bronx venue was 40,269.
Early Exchange

Houston regained the lead at 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth when a groundout by Grisham allowed Chisholm Jr. to score.
Decisive Seventh
The game remained tied at 3-3 until the bottom of the seventh inning. The Yankees erupted for four runs in this frame to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Cody Bellinger hit a tiebreaking double to center field, driving in two runs.
The rally continued as Jones singled to right field, scoring Garcia Jr. Chisholm Jr. then doubled to left field, bringing in Bellinger. The Yankees added two more runs in the top of the eighth inning, with Garcia Jr. hitting a 354-foot home run to right field that also scored Rice, making the final score 9-3.
Pitching Performance
Elmer Rodriguez took the loss for the Yankees, pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits. He issued two walks and struck out six batters. Paul Blackburn earned the win with one scoreless inning, striking out two batters.
Peter Lambert started for the Astros, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing two earned runs on seven hits. He walked three batters and struck out five. Bennett Sousa took the loss, pitching 0.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits.
