Mariners secure 10-5 victory

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros 10-5 on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Daikin Park. The final score reflected a decisive offensive performance by the visitors, who outscored the home team by a five-run margin in front of a crowd of 34,664. The result improved Seattle's record to 58-66 while dropping Houston to 63-61.

Scoring unfolds in bursts

Houston took an early lead in the first inning when Jose Altuve reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Yordan Alvarez and moving Luis Varsho to second and Jose Paredes to third. The Mariners tied the game in the second inning when Cole Young reached on an infield single to the pitcher, scoring Julio Rodríguez.

Young continued his offensive surge later in the same inning with a triple to right field that scored Matt Naylor and himself. The lead expanded to 4-1 when Donovan singled to right, allowing Robles to score. Houston responded briefly when Vázquez homered to left field for 361 feet, narrowing the gap to 4-2.

Seattle extended its lead in the fourth inning when Donovan singled to left, scoring Young and moving Robles to third.

Late-inning explosion

The decisive scoring occurred in the eighth and ninth innings. In the eighth, Rodden doubled to center to score Robles, and Donovan singled to center to score Rodden. Houston managed two runs in that frame when Paredes homered to left center for 407 feet, scoring Peña.

The final blow came in the ninth inning when Young homered to right field for 358 feet, driving in Rodríguez and Naylor to make the score 10-4. Houston scored a final run in the ninth when Walker grounded out to second, allowing Altuve to score, ending the game at 10-5.

Pitching performances

Emerson Hancock earned the win for Seattle, pitching seven innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out eight batters. Jose Ferrer and Seranthony Dominguez each pitched one inning of relief for the Mariners. For Houston, Hayden Wesneski took the loss after pitching four innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs with six strikeouts.

Bryan King and Ronel Blanco handled the remaining innings for the Astros.
