Overmyer catches four TDs as Houston defeats Kansas State 35-16

Patrick Overmyer caught all four of Conner Weigman’s touchdown passes, and Houston built a 35-3 lead before defeating Kansas State 35-16 on Saturday.

Houston pulls away

Patrick Overmyer caught four touchdown passes from Conner Weigman, and visiting Houston defeated Kansas State 35-16 on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas. Overmyer finished with eight receptions for 83 yards, while Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns.

Houston scored on its first possession when Weigman found Overmyer for a 1-yard touchdown pass, followed by Jonathan Dimas’ kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez’s 29-yard field goal, but the Wildcats did not score again in the first half.

Cougars build a 21-3 advantage

Overmyer added a 2-yard touchdown reception from Weigman in the second quarter, and Makhi Hughes followed with a 13-yard touchdown run. Dimas made both extra points, giving Houston a 21-3 lead at halftime.

Houston’s rushing attack also included 20 carries for 90 yards by Re'Shaun Sanford II. Hughes’ touchdown was the Cougars’ second score on the ground in the game’s scoring sequence.

Kansas State trims the margin late

Overmyer caught his third touchdown pass on an 8-yard play from Weigman in the third quarter, and Dimas’ kick made the score 28-3. Kansas State then got a 13-yard touchdown pass from Avery Johnson to Garrett Oakley, but its two-point pass conversion failed.

Overmyer’s fourth touchdown reception, a 2-yard catch from Weigman, put Houston ahead 35-9 after another Dimas kick. Kansas State’s final score came in the fourth quarter, when Johnson passed 6 yards to Jaron Tibbs and Rodriguez added the kick.

Records and leaders

Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Rodney Fields Jr. led Kansas State with 14 carries for 46 yards, and Oakley had three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown.

Houston improved to 5-1, while Kansas State fell to 3-2. Attendance at Bill Snyder Family Stadium was 51,569.
