Allen ISD students got a look at the work behind manufacturing equipment during facility tours with six employers, moving career exploration beyond a classroom description.

All Metals Fabricating, Nordson, IntelliEPI, KONE, FlexLink and EagleNXT participated in the Manufacturing Day visits, the district said in an Oct. 9 report. Students observed operations and talked with industry professionals about their education and career paths.

The visits covered a range of jobs: engineering, production, automation, robotics, quality control and equipment maintenance. The district also described lessons in the less visible side of the work, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and professional conduct.

For families discussing career options, the report offers a concrete example of how school learning connects with different workplace roles.

Allen Economic Development Corporation and Elke's provided lunch, according to the report.
