The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said a reported shooting on County Road 1230 was a false call, and deputies found the people at the location safe. Dallas is about 23 miles south of Allen.
Deputies responded at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday, following the report. Their investigation found no indication that a shooting had taken place.
County officials said the incident fit the pattern of a swatting call. In such incidents, a person falsely reports an emergency to bring a large law enforcement response to a location where people are unaware of the report. WFAA reported the officials’ statement.
