A North Texas woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison following her conviction for murder in the death of her infant child. The incident occurred in Frisco, a city located approximately 9 miles west of Allen.
Frisco police identified the defendant as 27-year-old Vanessa Esquivel. Authorities stated that in August, Esquivel left her 15-month-old child inside a parked vehicle outside her place of employment.
According to investigators, the child remained in the car for more than two hours. The vehicle’s air conditioning was not functioning during that time. Outside temperatures at the location reached at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit while the child was trapped inside.
Esquivel appeared in court to receive her sentence after being found guilty of the charge. The 25-year prison term was handed down by the judge.
