Texas high school football begins this week with a marquee matchup between the Allen Eagles and the Duncanville Panthers. The game takes place at the largest stadium in the state, serving as a rematch of last season’s state semifinal contest where Duncanville defeated Allen 31-9.
The kickoff is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Fans unable to attend in person can stream the game live via the NFHS Network.
Allen enters the season unranked in the national USA TODAY Sports Super 25 poll but holds the No. 8 spot in the regional Super 15 Southwest rankings. The Eagles finished last year with a 14-1 record before their semifinal loss. Quarterback duties will fall to rising sophomore Ty Snell, who completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,030 yards and ten touchdowns last season.
Duncanville arrives with the No. 16 ranking in the Super 25 and the top spot in the regional Southwest poll. The Panthers reached the UIL Class 6A Division I championship game last year, falling to North Shore 10-7 with a 12-2 overall record.
Their offense will rely heavily on Purdue commit Trenton Yancey, who recorded 59 receptions for 852 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago.
