Allen High School secured a 50-6 victory over DeSoto on Friday night, September 4, extending its winning streak to two games. The Eagles, ranked No. 16, dominated the nationally ranked DeSoto team in their season-opening matchup against the Panthers.

Sophomore quarterback Ty Snell was the focal point of the offense, completing six of his seven pass attempts for 169 yards and four touchdowns. His efficiency was highlighted by three touchdown passes to fellow sophomore Zach Williams, who finished the game with four receptions for 99 yards.

Snell’s performance added to his season totals of 332 passing yards and six touchdowns, with a 71% completion rate.

The Allen defense limited DeSoto to just six points, holding the opposing offense scoreless until 3:18 remained in the fourth quarter. Even after DeSoto scored, the Eagles’ defensive unit prevented a two-point conversion attempt. This defensive effort followed a similar shutdown performance against Duncanville in the previous week’s game.

This contest marked the sixth meeting between the two programs, with Allen holding a 5-1 series lead. The Eagles have won their postseason matchups against DeSoto from 2012 to 2014 and added another victory in 2015. Snell, who transferred to Allen from Lipscomb Academy in Tennessee before his freshman year, is currently ranked as the No. 30 player in the 2029 class by 247Sports.

He is listed as the No. 2 quarterback prospect and the No. 6 player out of Texas.

Allen will travel to Southlake Carroll next Friday for its first road game of the season. DeSoto will host Duncanville on Saturday in an attempt to secure its first win of the year.
