Aidan Curry delivered a dominant performance for the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, recording 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings in a win against the Midland RockHounds. The outing, which occurred earlier this week, established a season high for the 23-year-old right-hander and marked the first time he has reached double-digit strikeouts in a single game during the current campaign.
Curry’s recent form contrasts sharply with his debut in Frisco on May 26. In that initial start against Arkansas, he allowed six hits, seven earned runs, and four walks while striking out four batters in just three innings. That performance left him with a 21.00 earned run average at the Double-A level.
However, he has steadily reduced his run support allowed in subsequent appearances, yielding six earned runs on June 2, four on June 9, two on June 16, three on June 23, and two on June 30.
Over five starts in June, Curry posted a 2-1 record with a 5.14 ERA. He struck out 34 batters and issued eight walks across 28 innings, holding opposing hitters to a .236 batting average. Notably, he has pitched at least five innings in each of his last four starts, including two outings of at least six innings.
This increased workload suggests the organization is extending his time on the mound to develop him as a starter, a shift from his previous tenure where he only made two starts of five or more innings at High-A Hub City.
The result of his latest effort was a victory for Frisco, which is located approximately 9 miles west of Allen. The performance has fueled speculation that Curry may be approaching a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock, though the team has not confirmed any immediate roster moves.
Curry enters his next start with a career minor league record of 19-19 and a 4.87 ERA across 382.2 innings, including 482 strikeouts and 192 walks.
