BasePoint, a Texas-based behavioral health organization, opened a new BreakThrough location in McKinney on June 17. The facility is designed to expand local access to partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for individuals between the ages of 18 and 35. McKinney is located approximately 7 miles northeast of Allen.
This opening marks the fourth physical site for BasePoint, which previously operated locations in Arlington, Frisco, and Forney. The organization states that the new center is positioned to address critical needs by providing customized care for young adults.
According to recent U.S. Census data cited by the organization, less than one in four young adults has reached key life milestones, and Texas ranks 50th in access to mental health care. Young people are also facing rising rates of anxiety and depression amid increasing academic and economic pressures.
Hope Windsor, executive director of the McKinney facility, said the new location responds to young adults facing a level of complexity previous generations haven't experienced, creating the need for specialized support. "With our BreakThrough program, we have expanded the support systems young people need to navigate this life transition successfully, much like what our Academy program has done for adolescents," Windsor said.
"We are equipped to serve this community better than anyone because we recognize emerging adulthood as a distinct developmental phase that meets young adults where they are."
The BreakThrough program aims to help young adults navigate mental health challenges and the realities of emerging adulthood, empowering them to pursue education, employment, meaningful relationships, and long-term well-being. BasePoint offers free transportation within 25 miles of any location and conducts assessments daily. The organization recently became the first in Texas to be named Program of the Year by the Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Healthcare.
