Both Dallas-area programs have established themselves as among the most successful in Texas over the last five years, with Duncanville accumulating 68 wins and Allen securing 54.
In California, No. 6 Santa Margarita from Rancho Santa Margarita plays host to No. 8 Centennial of Corona. Santa Margarita’s recent performance featured junior quarterback Fletch Palmer making his first start and throwing two touchdowns. Wide receiver Kiyan Callis and linebacker Aydan Steen also contributed significantly in that game.
Centennial opened its season with a 41-21 victory, highlighted by senior quarterback Jaden Jefferson throwing two touchdown passes to four-star wide receiver Quentin Hale, who has committed to USC.
Another cross-country clash occurs Thursday when No. 14 Sierra Canyon travels to Florida to face No. 21 Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood. Sierra Canyon is led by five-star defensive end Marcus Fakatou, an Ohio State commit who recorded two sacks in the team’s opening game. Chaminade-Madonna enters the matchup following a 49-22 win where junior quarterback Brady Quinn threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers.
In Arizona, No. 23 Chandler travels just 11 miles to play rival No. 13 Basha in their season openers. These two programs have met in the last two Open Division state championship games.
