Allen and North Crowley moved up in the latest Texas Associated Press high school football poll, released Monday by Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine and TexasFootball.com. The rankings reflect results from Week 2 of the season.
In Class 6A, Allen rose to No. 4 after defeating DeSoto 50-6. North Crowley climbed to No. 3 following a 40-10 victory over Southlake Carroll. Both teams remain undefeated at 2-0.
DeSoto dropped out of the Class 6A rankings entirely after its loss to Allen. Highland Park also exited the poll, having previously held a spot in Class 5A Division I before falling out.
Waxahachie retained the top position in Class 6A with a 2-0 record after beating Coppell 27-24. Galena Park North Shore stayed at No. 2 with a win over John Curtis of Louisiana. Denton Guyer moved up to No. 5, while SA Johnson entered the top 10 at No. 6.
Other notable shifts in Class 6A included Katy rising to No. 7 and Fort Bend Ridge Point jumping to No. 8. Cypress Ranch climbed significantly to No. 9 after a close win over Sheldon King. Longview moved up to No. 10 with a decisive victory over Marshall.
In Class 5A Division I, Smithson Valley of Comal took the top spot with a win over SA Sotomayor. Frisco Lone Star remained at No. 2 after an international win against Philadelphia Gratz. Richmond Randle and Port Arthur Memorial held steady at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively.
Class 5A Division II saw Dallas South Oak Cliff drop to No. 1 despite being idle, while Boerne moved up to No. 2. Anna stayed at No. 3 after defeating Brock. SA Alamo Heights remained at No. 4.
