Weekend Activities in Plano, Frisco and Nearby Areas

Plano is about 6 miles south of Allen. Residents and visitors in the region have access to a variety of extended-run events and exhibitions this summer, ranging from immersive entertainment to major sporting celebrations.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is taking center stage in North Texas. Nine matches are scheduled to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington between June 14 and July 14. To support the tournament, FC Dallas is hosting a 34-day fan festival at Simpson Plaza in Frisco from June 11 through July 19.

This event includes live match watch parties, interactive activities, live music, and food options. Free tickets are required for entry to the plaza.

Another World Cup celebration, the Dallas Fan Fest, runs from June 11 to July 19 at Fair Park in Dallas. This gathering features live match screenings, entertainment, food, and cultural experiences for visitors from around the world.

For those interested in art and history, several exhibitions are open across the area. The America 250: Texas Trailblazing Wonder Women Exhibition is on display at Millhouse in McKinney from June 15 through August 30. This juried show features 25 large-scale works by Texas artists honoring influential women in history.

Additionally, the Legends of Soccer exhibit at the Frisco Heritage Museum runs from June 15 to December 1. This free display explores World Cup history through tributes to players like Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona, and Pelé, as well as iconic moments from past tournaments.

Art enthusiasts can also visit Hunt Slonem: Bunnies, Birds & Butterflies at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Running from April 20 to September 30, this outdoor exhibition features large-scale sculptures and colorful installations inspired by nature. In Dallas, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science hosts Soccer: More Than a Game from March 7 to September 7.

This 10,000-square-foot interactive exhibition explores the science behind soccer, including the physics of ball movement and team strategy.

Entertainment options include an immersive screening experience of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at Cosm Dallas in The Colony. Running from May 7 to July 2, the experience uses 12K LED dome technology to surround guests with visuals and environments from the wizarding world.
