Baylor and Colorado, each 2-1, are scheduled to meet Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central at McLane Stadium in Waco. The game will air on ESPN2, with Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison scheduled as the announcers.
Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway has been cleared by the team’s medical staff after missing the team’s Sept. 5 game with an ankle injury. Nate Bennett, who started the past two games, returns to the reserve role. In those contests, Bennett completed 75% of his attempts for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. He also produced 15 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Jadon Porter and defensive back Devin Turner are available after being listed as probable. Defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler also can play after his status was upgraded from questionable. Baylor will be without safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado has ruled out wide receiver Danny Scudero, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and tight end Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have totaled 94 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne remains a game-time decision. Coach Dave Aranda had forecast Lagway’s return earlier in the week.
