The Dallas Cowboys are changing who communicates their defensive calls for Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders. Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham will wear the green dot and direct the defense, according to sportingnews.com.
The assignment follows Dallas’ 28-point loss to the New York Giants in Week 1, when the Cowboys struggled to contain the Giants’ offense. Both Dallas and Washington entered the NFC East matchup after losing to division opponents in the opening week.
Barham was selected in the third round out of Michigan. Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the change, which defensive coordinator Christian Parker is making as the Cowboys prepare for Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels. The game will also include Dallas’ offense facing a Washington defense, while Barham takes on the new communication responsibility.
