Tayven Jackson Takes Charge as North Texas Quarterback for Season Opener

Tayven Jackson has been named the starting quarterback for North Texas ahead of their game against Indiana.

Tayven Jackson has been selected to lead the North Texas Mean Green as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season opener against Indiana University on September 5, 2026. Jackson, who has a diverse college football background, previously played for the Hoosiers.

In the 2023-24 season, he participated in 13 games for Indiana, achieving a completion percentage of 61.2% with six touchdowns and six interceptions. After a limited stint at Tennessee in 2022, Jackson transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2025, where he completed 63.5% of his passes, totaling 2,151 yards, ten touchdowns, and eight interceptions, contributing to a 5-7 record for the Knights.

Before entering college football, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, throwing for 4,813 yards and 47 touchdowns from 2018 to 2021, which led his team to an undefeated championship in Class 6A. He is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, who was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2019 and is now in his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors.

The matchup between North Texas and Indiana will begin at noon and will be aired on Fox.
