Allen, Texas, is located approximately 280 miles from Lubbock.

Texas Tech University has completed its non-conference football schedule for the 2030 season by securing a home matchup against Texas State. The Red Raiders will host the Bobcats on September 14, 2030, according to a contract obtained via an open-records request and reported by FBSchedules.com.

Under the agreement terms, Texas Tech must pay Texas State a guarantee of $1.2 million. This addition fills the final slot in the 2030 slate. The season opener is set for August 31 against Arkansas in Las Vegas. Fresno State will be hosted one week prior to the Texas State game.

The program still needs non-conference opponents for 2027, 2028, and 2029. Mississippi State canceled a two-game series for 2028 and 2029 without penalty due to SEC scheduling changes. North Carolina State exercised a buyout for a 2027 game in Lubbock. Texas Tech also bought out a 2027 road game against North Texas.

The Red Raiders have two non-conference home games scheduled for each of the years 2027, 2028, and 2029. Financial guarantees for these future matchups range from $300,000 to $1 million. Other schedule adjustments include a rescheduled home game against Arkansas in 2034, originally set for 2030. A road game at Oregon was moved from 2024 to 2033 to preserve the rivalry with Oregon State.
