Angela Stanford is returning to Texas Christian University as an assistant coach for the women’s golf team, moving from a record-setting playing career with the Horned Frogs into a coaching role. Stanford competed for TCU from 1996 through 2000 and was a four-time TCU All-American, a distinction no other player in program history has matched. She also holds the school record with 10 victories.
Stanford is from Saginaw, which is about 15 miles from Fort Worth. Her hiring follows her recent service as captain of the United States team at the Solheim Cup. She has also been a major champion.
TCU head coach Ravaioli-Larkin said the program was delighted to bring Stanford back and identified her as the team’s third coach. Ravaioli-Larkin pointed to Stanford’s major-championship experience and leadership of the U.S. Solheim Cup team. TCU did not provide additional details about Stanford’s responsibilities with the team.
