TCU is 2-2 after falling 21-13 to Central Florida in Orlando, with the loss bringing a quarterback decision into focus. The Horned Frogs are 0-2 against Power Four opponents, and the game served as the Big 12 opener for both teams. TCU managed 1.2 yards per rushing attempt, committed 11 infractions totaling 86 yards and had two more turnovers than UCF.
The result altered the buildup to TCU’s Oct. 3 home meeting with No. 9 BYU. The Horned Frogs had hoped to open 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth, but they are averaging 11.5 points per game through the first month.
Jaden Craig, a Harvard transfer, remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel on the depth chart. Schobel did not appear during his 2025 freshman season and has attempted one pass this season. In games against North Carolina and UCF, Craig went 45-for-72 through the air for 485 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns.
He also lost 38 yards on 10 credited rushing attempts, with sacks included in college statistics. The report said his receivers have provided limited help, while Craig has struggled when plays break down.
The report said Craig signed for more money than Schobel, adding financial and personnel considerations. Craig could remain the starter against BYU, while Schobel could make his first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week. Sonny Dykes has previously changed quarterbacks after injuries, including moves involving Chandler Morris, Max Duggan and Josh Hoover.
