As the Baylor Bears gear up for their upcoming season opener against Auburn, the team is experiencing significant changes in its offensive line. With only one full-time starter returning, Kaden Sieracki at right tackle, the departure of Memphis transfer Yakiri Walker has added to the uncertainty.
Walker, who was anticipated to take the center position, will now serve as a coach after his injunction was denied.
In the wake of Walker's exit, Koltin Sieracki has emerged as a strong contender for the center role. Offensive line coach Austin Woods remarked on Koltin's impressive summer performance, highlighting his ability to lead and communicate effectively on the field.
Koltin, who is 6'4" and weighs 317 pounds, played as the sixth lineman last season and has shifted his focus from guard to center, a position he prefers. "I actually prefer center," he stated, noting his comfort and enjoyment of the physical demands of the role.
The offensive line configuration continues to evolve, with Texas transfer Nate Kibble and South Alabama transfer Asher Hale expected to play alongside Sieracki at guard. UAB transfer Logan Moore has been designated for left tackle, while Toledo transfer Cole Rhett is being utilized in various positions, indicating he may compete for a starting role or take on Sieracki's previous sixth lineman position.
