Von Miller has signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys, marking his official addition to the team after expressing interest during the offseason. This move is part of a broader effort by the Cowboys to revamp their defense, which includes around six new starters along with new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
Miller, who achieved nine sacks in 2025 while playing for the Washington Commanders, aims to leverage his extensive experience in Dallas.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer conveyed his confidence in Miller’s skills, highlighting his sharp football intelligence and remaining quickness. Schottenheimer mentioned that while Miller may not be on the field for every play, his involvement is expected to significantly improve the team’s defensive capabilities. He remarked on Miller's high-level understanding of the game and his ability to read angles effectively.
In the 2025 season, Miller participated in 17 games with the Commanders, starting three and contributing 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. In his new role with the Cowboys, he is likely to be utilized in crucial moments, such as during third downs, while other players manage early downs.
Miller’s career accolades include being the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft from Texas A&M, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. He has claimed two Super Bowl championships, one with the Denver Broncos and another with the Los Angeles Rams.
