The Dallas Cowboys have completed a trade sending offensive tackle Nate Thomas to the Houston Texans. In return, the Cowboys will receive a seventh-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Nate Thomas, who is 25 years old, was drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football at Louisiana. After spending his first season on injured reserve, he played in all 17 games during the 2025 season, starting in four of those contests.
Primarily a left tackle, he has also served as a swing tackle throughout his time with the team.
During the offseason, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer suggested a competition between Thomas and teammate Tyler Guyton for the starting left tackle role. However, as training camp progressed, Schottenheimer indicated that Guyton would remain with the first team due to a need for more consistent performance from Thomas.
The Cowboys have also enhanced their offensive line by bringing in Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers, who is capable of playing both left and right tackle. As the deadline for NFL teams to finalize their 53-man rosters approaches, the Cowboys' offensive tackle group now features Tyler Guyton, Terence Steele, Broderick Jones, and fourth-round draft pick Drew Shelton.
