Davis is the only player from the Cowboys to receive a fine during the preseason. The highest fine during this period was given to Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tytus Howard, who was fined $12,537 for a similar violation in Week 1.
Currently in the second year of a two-year, $2.1 million contract, Davis has a base salary of $1.1 million for 2026, making the fine about 0.6% of his earnings. The NFL donates all collected fines to the Professional Athletes Foundation, which aids athletes in need and promotes health and safety in football.
Competing for the backup running back position, Davis has secured his role behind starter Javonte Williams, as the Cowboys made roster changes, including releasing Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah.
