P.J. Locke was helped from the field with a foot injury during Washington’s opening possession against Dallas, complicating the Cowboys’ defense in their home opener. It was Locke’s second game with the team.
FOX footage showed Locke moving toward the play and then beginning to limp before making contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said Locke reached the locker room without assistance.
Dallas had already ruled out safety Malik Hooker because of a forearm injury. Locke joined the Cowboys in the offseason on a one-year contract worth $4 million, following his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos.
Locke made two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described its report as breaking news that could receive further updates.
