North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will take on the role of starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Previously, Jackson played for Indiana University for two seasons, making him well-acquainted with the Hoosiers, who are ranked No. 6 and will face North Texas in their first regular season game on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

Jackson, originally from Greenwood, Indiana, had a successful high school career at Center Grove before playing at multiple colleges. He was part of the Tennessee football program in 2022 and later transferred to the University of Central Florida for the 2025 season. During his time at UCF, he recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, along with 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

In addition to his football ties to IU, Jackson is also the younger brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former player for the IU basketball team. Trayce announced on social media that he will attend the game to support his brother. This game marks IU's first since celebrating their national championship win in January.
