The Houston Cougars have enhanced their defensive lineup by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move follows new NCAA eligibility rules that allow players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract, to gain an additional season of eligibility.
Rowser played nine games during his freshman year with the Campbell Camels and did not redshirt. He also participated in a rookie minicamp for the Seattle Seahawks but did not secure a professional contract. His college career features time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has amassed a total of 295 tackles, which includes 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended.
In the 2025 season, he played in every game for Arizona State, achieving a career-high 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery, earning him a place on the All-Big 12 Third Team. The Cougars already have strong safety options, featuring Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who recorded 71 and 48 tackles last season.
They have also brought in Tulane safety Javion White, who made 50 tackles last season. Rowser's addition may lead to adjustments in the lineup, possibly moving one of the safeties to the nickel corner position.
