The University of Houston's football team has announced that offensive guard Shadre Hurst has been named to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This accolade highlights Hurst's significant contributions and performance on the field.
Earlier this month, he was also featured on the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. Hurst has a strong connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their previous time at Tulane, where he achieved All-American status and received All-AAC honors in The American Conference.
Since 2023, Hurst has maintained an impressive 80.0 pass block grade, ranking him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has allowed just one sack over more than 1,200 passing snaps, reflecting his effectiveness and reliability. In 2025, he was recognized as the top graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth nationally by Pro Football Focus.
The Cougars will kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
