Texans Release 22 Players as They Prepare for Season Opener Against Bills

The Houston Texans have waived 22 players as they finalize their roster for Week 1.

The Houston Texans have made significant roster changes in anticipation of their Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills on September 13. A total of 22 players have been waived, including prominent figures like wide receiver Zay Jones and quarterback Brett Rypien.

Among those released are defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from Tennessee and wide receiver Lewis Bond from Boston College. Linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both experienced in the league, were also among the cuts. Additionally, the Texans have released cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum.

In a trade, center/guard Jarrett Patterson has been sent to the San Francisco 49ers, while tackle Nathan Thomas has been acquired from the Dallas Cowboys. The Texans have also placed several players on the Reserve/Injured list, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, who are designated for return. Defensive end Ali Gaye has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list, and linebacker E.J.

Speed has been moved to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

These roster adjustments come as the Texans gear up for their season opener at Reliant Stadium against the Buffalo Bills. Further details on the roster and any additional moves remain unclear.
