Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte held a press conference discussing his recent trade from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans. This event occurred one week after the trade, where Boutte shared his thoughts on joining the Texans and the reasons for his departure from New England.
During the offseason, Boutte requested a trade, expressing a desire for a more significant role on the team. He noted that the signing of Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract and the acquisition of A.J. Brown through a trade involving first- and fifth-round draft picks affected his standing within the Patriots.
As a result, he found himself as the fourth wide receiver in training camp, behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Despite a strong performance in the 2024 season, where he recorded 42 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, Boutte faced the possibility of being inactive on game days, as mentioned by head coach Mike Vrabel following the final preseason game.
Boutte responded to Vrabel's comments positively, stating he viewed them as an honest evaluation and chose to focus on his future with the Texans instead of using those remarks as motivation.
