A Dallas court has issued a temporary restraining order that allows 18 college football players, including Ahmaad Moses from SMU, to participate in a fifth year of eligibility during the 2026 season.
This decision comes just ahead of the college football season and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling on July 31, which first allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility. The NCAA's appeal of that earlier decision has been temporarily halted by this new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has made significant contributions during his four years at SMU, including a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. He recorded 104 tackles and five interceptions last season, leading the team in both categories.
His performance against Miami (FL), where he achieved a career-high 15 tackles and two interceptions, was particularly noteworthy.
After declaring for the NFL Draft post-2025 season, Moses faced challenges due to a herniated disk diagnosed through an MRI, which required spinal fusion surgery. This injury allowed him to qualify for a return under the new eligibility rules.
