The Houston Texans have added defensive end Chris Braswell to their practice squad after his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Braswell, who played at Alabama, recorded a total of eight sacks and ten tackles for loss while stepping in as the Jack linebacker following Will Anderson Jr.'s departure.
His performance ranked second on the team, only behind Dallas Turner, who was picked 17th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Despite being a second-round draft choice by Tampa Bay, Braswell struggled to secure a starting role, managing only two and a half sacks over two seasons. His lack of production, compounded by a limited pass rush strategy and injuries during the preseason, led to his release.
In Houston, Braswell will work alongside former Alabama teammates Will Anderson Jr. and Logan Hall. He is expected to focus on adapting to the Texans' 4-3 defensive scheme, emphasizing edge-setting and pass rushing. The Texans view this signing as a strategic enhancement to their defensive depth, with Braswell serving as a backup behind Dominique Robinson, Sebastian Harsh, and Jadeveon Clowney on the depth chart.
