The Houston Texans have completed their 53-man roster, featuring undrafted rookie defensive end Sabastian Harsh. Initially considered a long shot to make the team, Harsh's dedication and impressive preseason performances led to his selection.
Harsh shared his feelings of anxiety leading up to the roster announcement, stating, "I talked to my mom, and my dad and I was just kind of waiting for a phone call... Then I seen the roster get released, and I was like, Oh my gosh. Like, that is pretty cool, man."
After missing the first preseason game due to injury, Harsh excelled in his next opportunity against the Carolina Panthers. He recorded three tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits, and one pass breakup, which significantly enhanced his chances of making the team.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans noted Harsh's dual capabilities in pass rushing and run defense as key factors in his selection. Despite this accomplishment, Harsh remains committed to improvement, saying, "Even still now, like, I haven't done it yet. So, still got a lot more work to do."
As the regular season nears, Harsh will gain valuable experience from veteran edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, and his performance will be closely watched throughout the 2026 season.
