Lewis Bond is available for the Houston Texans’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals after the team promoted the rookie receiver from its practice squad. The move is Houston’s second regular practice-squad elevation for the matchup. Veteran safety and special-teams contributor George Odum received the other elevation.
Nico Collins, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, will miss the game. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, citing a league source, said Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring injury and might also miss Houston’s next game against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson said that outlook could change.
Houston drafted Bond in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft, taking him 204th overall. The Texans released him while reducing their roster to 53 players, then brought him back on the practice squad. Bond has two more practice-squad elevations available before Houston must place him on the 53-man roster or select another player.
Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to play ahead of him at receiver. NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein previously described Bond as a receiver with reliable hands and contested-catch ability, while citing separation against press and man coverage as a concern. The team has not provided the size of Bond’s role against Cincinnati.
