Nico Collins will miss Houston’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a Grade 1 hamstring injury suffered in Wednesday’s practice. He also sat out the team’s final two practices of the week before the Texans listed him as out on their final injury report.
Houston has not determined whether Collins will be available for its Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts. His condition remains under evaluation, Aaron Wilson reported, and no additional details about his return were provided.
The Texans will divide Collins’ receiving responsibilities among several players. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel are among those who could see expanded roles, while Jayden Higgins is unavailable for the rest of the season because of an ACL injury. Collins opened the season with seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s 36-31 defeat by Buffalo.
He has been one of Houston’s leading offensive contributors during the last three seasons.
C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in the opener as Houston searches for its first victory.
