Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said Marcel Reed will remain the team's starting quarterback after the No. 23 Aggies fell 35-6 to No. 10 LSU. Asked if Reed could be benched, Elko replied, "No." TexAgs posted the exchange on X, and Yahoo Sports reported it.
Reed completed 10 of 26 attempts for 106 yards against LSU and threw an interception. His 38.4% completion mark was described as possibly the lowest of his college career. In four games this season, he has 738 passing yards, six touchdown passes and four interceptions, along with 104 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He has completed 55.4% of his throws, a career-low rate.
Reed had 3,169 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in the previous season. Texas A&M is scheduled to face Arkansas in Week 5 on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST. The Razorbacks also enter the game with a 2-2 record.
