Roberts breaks open the finish

Missouri Tigers defeated the visiting Texas A&M Aggies 27-6 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, with Jamal Roberts’ 54-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter providing the final scoring play. Roberts finished with 34 carries for 222 yards and two touchdowns as Missouri improved to 5-1. Texas A&M fell to 3-3.

Missouri turns the game

Texas A&M took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter when David Olano made a 53-yard field goal. Missouri answered with 10 points in the second quarter. Austin Simmons connected with Cayden Lee on a 32-yard touchdown pass, followed by Blake Craig’s extra point, and Craig later made a 50-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 10-3 lead.

Missouri added 10 more points in the third quarter. Craig made a 51-yard field goal, and Roberts scored on a 2-yard run with Craig’s kick extending the lead to 20-3. The Tigers finished with seven points in the fourth quarter on Roberts’ 54-yard touchdown run and Craig’s extra point. Olano added Texas A&M’s final points on a 27-yard field goal.

Quarter-by-quarter scoring

Texas A&M led 3-0 after the opening quarter, while Missouri outscored the Aggies 10-0 in the second, 10-0 in the third and 7-3 in the fourth. The quarter totals were Texas A&M 3-0-0-3 and Missouri 0-10-10-7.

Simmons completed 14 of 28 passes for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Lee caught seven passes for 94 yards and one touchdown. For Texas A&M, Marcel Reed completed 19 of 39 passes for 187 yards and threw two interceptions. KJ Edwards had six carries for 20 yards, and TK Norman caught three passes for 55 yards.

The game was played before an attendance of 63,609 at Missouri’s home stadium.
