Nimmo’s Key Hit Proves Decisive
Jake Nimmo delivered the go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning, propelling the Texas Rangers to a 7-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park on Saturday. Nimmo drove in three total runs, including the pair that broke a tie, to secure the win for Texas.
The Rangers took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Andrew Elsberry homered to right field. Atlanta responded immediately in the second inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-1 advantage. Michael Harris II hit a home run to right field, while Austin Riley and Adam Duvall also crossed the plate on hits by Riley and Matt Olson, respectively.
The Braves extended their lead to 5-1 later in the frame when Olson hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
Rangers Rally in Third and Sixth
Texas began chipping away at the deficit in the third inning. Adolis García singled to left field, scoring Marcus Semien, to make it 3-4. Nimmo then singled to right, scoring García, bringing the Rangers within one run at 4-5. However, Harris II homered again, extending Atlanta’s lead to 6-4.
The game remained tight until the sixth inning. With the score tied 5-5 after García’s two-run homer, Nimmo’s single to center field scored two more runs, giving Texas a 7-5 lead. The Rangers held on despite a late rally by Atlanta. In the seventh inning, Duvall doubled to left field, scoring Harris II, to make the final score 7-6.
