Rangers Defeat White Sox 11-2 Behind Burger, Seager Offense

A Decisive Away Victory

The Texas Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox 11-2 on Monday, August 24, at Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. Attendance for the matchup stood at 11,471 fans. The result improved the Rangers' record to 66-66, while the White Sox fell to 68-63. The Rangers took an early lead that they never relinquished, scoring runs in five different innings to secure the win.

Early Offense Sets the Tone

The Rangers struck first in the top of the first inning. Duran grounded into a fielder's choice to shortstop, allowing Pederson to score and putting Langford on third base. In the same inning, Carter hit a double to right field, driving in Langford to extend the lead to 2-0.

The offense continued in the second inning when Duran reached on an infield single to second, scoring Seager and moving Nimmo to second base. The White Sox responded in the bottom of the second, as Peters hit a 372-foot home run to right field that brought home B. Montgomery, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

Mid-Inning Surge

The Rangers regained control in the third inning. Seager hit a double to center field, scoring Freeman and Díaz to make it 5-2. The lead grew further in the fifth inning when Burger hit a 412-foot home run to center field.

Later in the same frame, Seager hit another double to center, driving in Foscue to make the score 7-2. In the sixth inning, Burger hit a double to center, scoring Carter before being thrown out at third base, extending the lead to 8-2.

Closing the Game

The Rangers added two more runs in the final two innings. In the eighth, Burger drew a walk, and Duran scored on a wild pitch by Richards. In the ninth inning, Langford hit a 368-foot home run to left center field, scoring Lopez to close the game at 11-2.

Kumar Rocker earned the win, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs on three walks and eight strikeouts. Robby Ahlstrom and Jordan Montgomery combined for 3.1 scoreless innings. Jose Urquidy took the loss, pitching three innings while allowing six hits and five earned runs on four walks and two strikeouts.

Tyler Schweitzer, Huascar Brazoban, Trevor Richards, and Luisangel Acuna also pitched for Chicago.
