Eovaldi Dominates Early Frames
Nathan Eovaldi secured his ninth victory of the season, striking out nine batters over five innings to lead the Texas Rangers to a 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The win improves the Rangers' record to 45-43, while the Tigers fall to 38-50.
Eovaldi allowed three earned runs and six hits, but his ability to miss bats kept Detroit from building a substantial lead early in the contest.
Tigers Take Early Lead
Detroit struck first in the second inning. Díaz launched a 414-foot home run to left center, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage. The Tigers extended their lead later in the same inning when Jung walked, allowing Osuna to score.
A sacrifice fly by Duran brought Lopez home, making it 3-0. In the fourth inning, Jung doubled to left to score Lopez, pushing the margin to 4-0. Duran added an insurance run in the fourth with a single to center that scored Jung, making the score 5-0 before Texas could answer.
Rangers Rally in Fifth and Seventh
Texas began chipping away at the deficit in the fifth inning. Keith homered to right center to cut the lead to 5-1. The Rangers then took the lead when Lee homered to left center, scoring McKinstry on a two-run blast that made it 5-3.
