Decisive Eighth Inning
Josh Jung delivered the decisive blow in the eighth inning, launching a three-run home run that propelled the Texas Rangers to an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field. Jung’s blast to right field, measuring 364 feet, capped a five-run frame that turned a tight contest into a comfortable win for the home team.
The Rangers had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Angels starter Jose Soriano. Eloy Soler doubled to left, driving in Zach Schanuel, and Luke Lowe later singled to center to score Soler. However, the Angels rallied in the second inning. Andres Lopez singled to left, allowing Evan Carter and Jung to score, tying the game at 2-2.
Pitching Battle
Soriano pitched six innings for Los Angeles, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out four batters. He was relieved by Tayler Saucedo, who threw one inning, giving up one earned run and striking out two. Sam Bachman entered in the seventh and struggled, surrendering five runs on six hits in just two-thirds of an inning before being pulled.
Brent Suter closed out the Angels' relief effort with a quick inning, recording one strikeout.
For Texas, Jacob deGrom started for the Rangers, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven. Cole Winn provided a scoreless inning in the sixth, followed by Chris Martin, who gave up one earned run in the seventh. Peyton Gray earned the win with a perfect inning in the eighth, striking out two batters.
Tyler Alexander closed the game with another scoreless frame, adding two strikeouts.
