Pederson Powers Rangers Offense

Joc Pederson provided the offensive spark the Texas Rangers needed, hitting two home runs to help secure a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday at Globe Life Field. His performance included a solo shot in the first inning and a three-run blast in the second that shifted the momentum entirely in favor of the home team.

Pederson’s first home run came in the top of the first inning, a 418-foot shot to center field that gave Seattle an early 1-0 lead. However, the Mariners’ advantage was short-lived. In the top of the second, Seattle’s Randal Arozarena answered with a 395-foot homer to center, tying the game at 1-1.

That tie lasted only moments before Pederson struck again. His 347-foot home run to right field in the same inning drove in two additional runs, putting Texas ahead 4-1 and effectively breaking open the contest.

Rangers Extend Lead in Third

The Rangers continued to pile on runs in the third inning. Texas’s Nathaniel Lowe hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Adolis García to make it 5-2. Duran followed with a 436-foot home run to left center, extending the lead to 6-2.

Burger then added a two-run homer to left center, bringing the score to 7-2 and sealing the offensive output for the Rangers’ starters.

Pitching Holds Firm

Kumar Rocker earned the win for Texas, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out seven batters. He was supported by Robby Ahlstrom, who pitched 0.1 scoreless innings, Jakob Junis, who pitched a perfect inning with one walk, and Jacob Latz, who closed out the game with one inning of work, allowing one earned run on two hits.

For Seattle, George Kirby took the loss after allowing seven earned runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings. He was joined in the bullpen by Jose Ferrer, Michael Rucker, Cole Wilcox, and Alex Hoppe, who combined to pitch 4.0 innings and keep the Mariners within striking distance until the late innings.
