Asian grocer Enson Market refiles plans for the former Tom Thumb, now aiming for a March finish

A state filing registered Wednesday lists a $987,345 finish-out of the 63,142-square-foot store at 900 W. McDermott Drive from Oct. 7 to March 15, 2027, more than three months later than an earlier filing showed.

The wait for a new grocery store in the old Tom Thumb at Twin Creeks Village is running longer than first planned.

A project registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Wednesday, Oct. 7, describes an interior finish-out of the existing grocery store at 900 W. McDermott Drive for Enson Market. The filing puts the cost at $987,345 for the 63,142-square-foot space, with work starting Oct. 7 and ending March 15, 2027.

The tenant is paying for the work, and the design firm listed is Entos Design of Dallas.

An earlier timeline

The same store appeared in a state filing registered in March under the name Enson Grocery Store. That record listed the same cost and square footage, described the job as a remodel and scheduled it from April 30 to Nov. 26, 2026, with a design firm from The Woodlands. Both filings name the same property owner, T Twin Creeks FCH TX LLC of Dallas.

The new dates move the finish line back by roughly three and a half months. The state's records do not explain the change, and dates in these filings are estimates that can shift.

From Tom Thumb to Enson

Albertsons-owned Tom Thumb announced in 2025 that it would close the Allen store. In April, The Dallas Morning News reported that Enson Market would move into the McDermott Drive building near U.S. 75, citing the company's website, and that signs at the building promised "global flavors" and "local freshness."

The newspaper described Enson as a Cincinnati-based chain with stores in Indiana and Florida whose products include bok choy, napa cabbage, ground pork and green tea. The company calls itself a market for "Asian and Western living," according to the paper.

The filing does not give an opening date, and Enson has not announced one for Allen.
