MLB.com's recap placed his 2,000th career strikeout in the first inning, after he punched out Daylen Lile and Abimelec Ortiz. He finished the night with 2,008 career strikeouts, the AP noted.
One hit, then the bullpen
Brady House's second-inning single was the only hit deGrom allowed, ESPN and the AP both recorded, and House also drew the lone walk. Jake Junis, Chase Silseth, and Jacob Latz finished a combined one-hitter. Latz closed the ninth for his 25th save with one inning, no hits, three strikeouts, and one walk, per the AP and ESPN pitching lines.
The AP logged it as Texas' 12th shutout of the year.
