Allen Parks and Recreation is taking over St. Mary Drive next Saturday for its yearly autumn street party.

Allen Fall Fest runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 10 in front of the Allen Senior Recreation Center and Allen Heritage Village, 451 St. Mary Drive. Admission and activities are free; food, drinks and crafts are for sale. The Allen Heritage Guild is a sponsor.

Five zones

The city has split the festival into areas:

  • The Fan Zone puts food trucks, concessions, picnic tables and live music in the Senior Recreation Center's main parking lot and front field.
  • Harvest Hangout, on the west side of Heritage Village, has Park Hopper games and the annual RC Rally.
  • The Crafters Market lines St. Mary Drive with outdoor vendor booths in a street-fair layout. Every booth is taken; anyone asking about a waitlist or future markets can call the Senior Recreation Center at 214-509-4820.
  • Harvest & Heroes, on the east side of the senior center lot, offers recreation class demonstrations, a free putt-putt course and a chance to meet Allen firefighters and North Texas veterans groups.
  • The Farm Yard, outside the barn in Heritage Village, has a petting zoo, farming demonstrations, storytime and more live music.

The city's earlier announcement also lists a book sale, historical crafts and farm-themed photo spots.

Getting there

Cedar Drive will be closed to through traffic at St. Mary Drive, and the city says drivers should reach the event lots from North Ash Drive. Parking is at The Edge Recreation Center in Allen Station Park, with overflow at Allen Public Library. Shuttles, including accessible service, will loop between those lots and the festival.

Same weekend

The city's October guide lists two other free or family events around Fall Fest. On Friday, Oct. 9, the Dallas Hua Yun Chinese Orchestra plays a free concert of traditional Chinese music at Allen Public Library; no ticket is needed, and ACTV will stream it live. On Sunday, Oct. 11, the Be Like Blippi tour stops at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center.
